Call for Proposals: Pre-conference PhD Workshop at ERNOP’s 12th International Conference
The European Research Network On Philanthropy (ERNOP) is pleased to announce a pre-conference, full-day workshop exclusively for PhD candidates, taking place on September 24, 2025, at the University of Heidelberg in Germany, as part of ERNOP’s 12th International Conference.
Recognizing that the future of philanthropic research rests in the hands of emerging scholars, this workshop aims to empower the next generation of researchers by providing a platform to enhance their work through critical feedback and mentorship.
Senior scholars in the field—Michaela Neumayr (WU Vienna, Austria), Oonagh Breen (UCD Sutherland School of Law, Ireland), and Rene Bekkers (VU Amsterdam, the Netherlands)—will guide participants through different stages of their dissertation research.
Workshop Format
PhD candidates will:
- Present their research projects (10 minutes per candidate).
- Engage in detailed discussions and receive tailored feedback (20 minutes per candidate).
- Focus on one or two specific aspects they wish to refine, with input from peers and faculty.
Participants will also take part in a concluding Q&A session with faculty mentors, covering key topics such as:
- Writing and structuring their dissertations.
- Managing reviewers’ feedback.
- Preparing for their academic and professional careers.
Application Guidelines
Eligibility: Open to PhD students from all disciplines and nationalities.
To apply, submit the following by April 12, 2025:
- A motivation letter (250 words) outlining what you hope to gain from the workshop.
- An abstract (500 words) of your research project.
- A summary (300 words) highlighting the specific topic you wish to discuss.
Applicants will be notified of acceptance by May 12, 2025.
Costs: Participation is free of charge. A limited number of travel and accommodation grants (up to €250) are available for candidates whose institutions cannot cover their costs.
