European Research Network on Philanthropy

Welcome to the community of European philanthropy researchers

The European Research Network on Philanthropy (ERNOP) is the leading European network dedicated to advancing and connecting research on philanthropy.

Founded in 2008 by a group of philanthropy scholars, ERNOP brings together researchers studying philanthropy, civil society, and charitable giving across Europe and beyond. Today, the network includes around 300 members from 30 European countries and beyond and continues to grow as new researchers and practitioners join the community.

ERNOP provides a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the development of philanthropy research. Members connect through conferences, research initiatives, and publications, and contribute to leading academic journals in the field. ERNOP members are also active in international research communities such as ISTR and ARNOVA, and engage with philanthropic organisations and sector networks across Europe.

Researchers and practitioners with an interest in philanthropy research are warmly invited to join the ERNOP community, contribute to the development of philanthropy research, and improve philanthropic theory and practice.
