October 31, 2023, 10-11 (CET)
Speaker: Giedre Lideikyte-Huber (Geneva Centre for Philanthropy, University of Geneva)
Discussant: Anne-Laure Paquot (Transnational Giving Europe)
About this seminar:
This ERNOP Science and Society Webinar will delve into the theme of cross-border giving through a tax lens. This seminar is aimed to resonate with philanthropy professionals, providing legal and practical insights into the tax landscape surrounding international charitable donations and fundraising.
While the realm of contemporary philanthropy expands beyond borders to address pressing global issues, the tax frameworks of multiple states often remain confined within their jurisdictions. This ERNOP Science and Society Seminar discussion will shed light on the challenges posed by this discrepancy.
Dr. Giedre Lideikyte-Huber from the University of Geneva, and an expert on taxation of donation, will, together with practitioner experts, unravel the complexities of cross-border giving from both legal and practical standpoints. Starting from the motivations behind governments’ reservations towards cross-border giving, they will provide strategies to navigate the regulatory landscape effectively within the European Union and beyond. Furthermore, it will provide an opportunity for participants to pose their organisational questions and needs to international experts.
