AGAPE 2024
WU Vienna
Vienna, Austria, September 12-13, 2024
A Gathering of Academic research centers and chairs on Philanthropy in Europe (AGAPE) adopts a format designed to address both organizational capacity and stakeholder engagement. The first day focuses on enhancing the organizational capabilities of the represented academic centers under the guidance of their leaders. On the second day, we emphasize fostering stronger connections with stakeholders through the lens of Science with and for Society: representatives from (European) philanthropic organizations collaborate with representatives from research centers to integrate today’s evidence-based insights into tomorrow’s practices. Our invitees include representatives from associated memberships, individuals invited by institutional members, guests of the hosting organizations, and representatives of European umbrella organizations. Together, we aspire to inspire the architects of the research framework for the years ahead.
We do so by a process of constructive self-reflection, to ourselves as academic research network, to our work as researchers and research centers and chairs on philanthropy, and to our relationship and collaboration with the field of philanthropy. We no longer use the word crises, as they seem to be multiple and intertwined and thus no longer approached as crisis. We simply moved into a higher speed of living, where a state of crises becomes the new normal. What implications does this have for our work? Do we need to take – research on – philanthropy back to the drawing board?
AGAPE is a unique forum designed to enhance organizational capacities of philanthropy research centers and chairs in Europe and foster stronger connections between academia and the philanthropy sector. This year’s program promises engaging discussions, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities aimed at shaping the future of philanthropic research and practice. Please see the preliminary program for more details.
Please note that the program for non-academics starts at 7 PM of September 12 and has a tailored program, see here. In developing this program, we are pleased to work together again with Philea.
We are pleased to have respected colleagues to shape the interactive workshops of our initimate gathering of academic leaders on September 12, and to have renowned speakers, including Rien van Gendt and Giuseppe Ugazio, sharing their expertise and insights with us to build the exchange with practitioners on September 13.
Participation in AGAPE is organised exclusively for ERNOPs academic and executive leaders from its institutional members, associated institutional members, supporters, partners and invitees. In case you wish to join, we kindly request you to reach out to .
